Aeroflot recently debuted an Online CO2 Emission Calculator. This innovative tool was designed as part of our environmental protection policy to help our passengers assess the environmental impact of their flights.
The Online CO2 Emission Calculator was developed in compliance with the best aviation practices and the policies of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Similar products are already in use at the world’s leading civil aviation companies, such as Air France, Delta Airlines, Emirates and other airlines as part of company environmental responsibility programs.
The environmental impact assessment is based on the well-known fact that for every 1 ton of jet fuel burned, 3.15 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) are emitted into the atmosphere, which contributes to the greenhouse effect and therefore to climate change in general.
The Online CO2 Emission Calculator assesses the environmental impact of each passenger’s flight route based on the relevant statistics and factual data.
In the future we plan to offer our passengers the option to offset their negative environmental impact through a voluntary donation in support of environmental protection projects.
Everything you donate will be used for environmental conservation in Russia, including the preservation and regeneration of forests, air pollution reduction, protection for endangered animals, financial assistance for nature reserves and natural parks, cleaning up and protecting against further river, reservoir, and soil pollution, and lots of other environmental initiatives and projects.
We look forward to your suggestions and questions regarding our environmental projects via email:
