May the free baggage allowances of passengers travelling together be combined?

If a number of passengers are travelling together with a shared purpose, to the same destination airport, on the same flight(s) operated by Aeroflot PJSC and/or subsidiary airline companies under the commercial management of Aeroflot PJSC (members of the same family, companions on a leisure or business trip), those passengers can request that their free checked baggage allowances (stated on their tickets, including allowances by weight and/or size) be combined.

To combine free checked baggage allowances, each baggage piece shall not exceed 32 kg in weight and/or 203 cm in the sum of its three dimensions; the total combined number of pieces shall not exceed the sum of allowed pieces; the total combined weight shall not exceed the sum of the free allowances by weight stated on the passengers' tickets. When allowances are combined, a combined allowance by size is additionally established. Baggage shall be registered for each passenger individually.

If a passenger's free baggage allowance is greater than one piece, can the size/weight allowances for each piece be combined?

If a passenger's free baggage allowance includes multiple pieces, his/her allowances for each piece can be combined by weight and/or size. The allowances shall be combined within the general free baggage allowance limits for one passenger. The combined baggage piece shall not exceed 32 kg in weight and/or 203 cm in the sum of three dimensions.

Are additional baggage pieces that are not indicated on the ticket counted when combining allowances?

Additional pieces carried free of charge over and above the allowance indicated on the ticket shall not be counted when combining allowances. These pieces are:

  • provided to members of elite tiers of the Aeroflot Bonus programme and SkyTeam frequent flyer bonus programmes;
  • certain types of sports equipment (subject to special conditions).

If a passenger is travelling within Europe in Economy class (MAXIMUM – Economy fare family (PREMIUM – Economy until 29 January 2019)), what charge will be applied to their baggage if they have an additional baggage piece that also exceeds the established allowance in terms of weight (25 kg) and sum of its three dimensions (200 cm)?

In this case, the passenger is charged EUR 150 for the additional piece (the charge for third and subsequent pieces is applied, as the passenger has already used up the free two-piece allowance), plus EUR 100 for exceeding the allowance by sum of the three dimensions, plus EUR 100 for exceeding the weight allowance. Therefore, a total of EUR 350 shall be paid.

What charges for excess baggage apply for third and subsequent baggage pieces if the passenger is allowed an additional piece as an elite tier member of the Aeroflot Bonus programme or other SkyTeam frequent flyer programmes?

In this case, the charge shall be applied for third and subsequent pieces of excess baggage.

We are two passengers travelling together, we bought Economy Lite tickets and each of us additionally paid for a baggage piece weighing up to 23 kg. Can we combine the weight of the paid baggage?

At the request of passengers travelling together* with Lite tickets without free baggage allowances and who paid for extra baggage allowance, passengers may combine the weight of the paid baggage. The combined baggage is accepted for carriage without additional charges if its weight does not exceed 32 kg. Baggage shall be registered for each passenger individually. If the weight of the combined baggage exceeds 32 kg, and/or its size exceeds 203 cm, you must pay for this baggage according to the rates for heavy and/or oversized baggage.

We are travelling together. One of us bought an Economy Lite ticket and paid for one baggage piece, and the other person bought an Economy Classic ticket. Can we combine the weight of all the baggage?

For the passenger with the Lite ticket without free baggage allowance, the weight of the paid baggage and the weight of the baggage included in the free baggage allowance may not be combined.

We are travelling together. One of us bought an Economy Lite ticket and paid for one baggage piece, and the other one bought an Economy Classic ticket and paid for an extra baggage piece. Can we combine the weight of all the baggage?

For the passenger with a Lite ticket that does not include free baggage allowance, the weight of the paid baggage and the weight of the paid excess baggage of the passenger with a ticket that includes free baggage allowance may not be combined.

The weight of the paid excess baggage and the weight of the baggage included in the free baggage allowance may not be combined.

I bought an Economy Lite ticket and I am flying with a bag which weighs more than 10 kg. Can I take this bag as carry-on baggage?

Bags exceeding the weight and size limits for carry-on baggage can only be carried as checked baggage. You may use the Prepaid Baggage service and pay for carriage of the first baggage piece. You must pay before check-in closes.

I bought an Economy Lite ticket which does not include free baggage allowance, but later I decided to travel with baggage. Can I take any baggage in addition to carry-on baggage?

For passengers with Economy Lite tickets, carriage of checked baggage is available at an additional cost. To pay for a standard baggage piece weighing no more than 23 kg and with the sum of three dimensions not exceeding 158 cm, you may use the Prepaid Baggage service and pay for your baggage in advance before going to the airport.

I purchased a Lite ticket for a flight within Russia and paid for the Prepaid Baggage service for the first baggage piece with a weight of up to 23 kg. How and how much do I have to pay if the baggage weighs more than 23 kg?

The Prepaid Baggage service is only available for standard baggage weighing no more than 23 kg (and with the sum of three dimensions not exceeding 158 cm). If one or more parameters are exceeded, this service cannot be provided. If you know in advance that the weight and/or size of the suitcase exceeds the parameters allowed, you may apply for a refund of the paid service before arriving at the airport (the places where you may request a refund are specified in the Terms and Conditions of the Service). If the excess in weight (and/or size) is discovered upon baggage check-in at the airport, you will have to pay at the airport booking office. The price for the excess weight will be calculated based on the baggage rate for each excess. For example, if you paid 2,000 for the first baggage piece and the actual weight of the baggage piece is 25 kg, at the airport the fee for the first baggage piece weighing 24-32 kg will be 5,000 rubles (2,500 rubles for the first baggage piece and 2,500 rubles for the excess weight), so you will have to pay an additional fee of 3,000 rubles. To apply for a refund or reissue the service, please contact the airport's booking office.

Can I pay for overweight/oversized baggage in advance?

You can pay for baggage carriage in advance at Aeroflot PJSC's sales offices, branches, and representative offices if the weight and/or size exceed the free baggage allowance. The price for carrying one piece of overweight and/or oversized baggage will be determined based on the baggage fees applicable at the airport.

If I pay for an additional baggage piece in advance but then decide to travel without baggage, can I cancel the service?

You may cancel the paid and unused Prepaid Paggage service. If you know in advance that you are not going to need the additional piece of baggage, please apply for a refund well in advance before arriving at the airport.

Can I pay for carriage of a pet in advance?

You can pay in advance for pet carriage at Aeroflot PJSC's sales offices, branches and representative offices (and in the offices of Aeroflot PJSC's authorised agents that perform the functions of the airline's sales offices at airports) after coordinating the carriage of the pet with the airline in advance. Can I pay for the Prepaid Baggage service using Aeroflot Bonus miles?

You cannot pay for the Prepaid Baggage service using Aeroflot Bonus miles.
